ABOUT KUNZANG GATSHAL
Kunzang Gatshal, Always Noble Joyful Park, is a special place in the forests of the Catskill Mountains that was chosen by Thinley Norbu Rinpoche to become the main seat of his pervasive Dharma activities. For twenty years, Rinpoche stayed there peacefully with family and disciples giving teachings, transmissions, and empowerments, creating a holy atmosphere permeated with sublime blessings. Among maple and pine trees, the clean waters of ponds, springs, and streams, and abundant medicinal herbs, flowers, and berries, where serene deer and flocks of wild turkeys wander freely through open fields and singing birds serenade, Rinpoche lived in a very simple way and made this countryside home of wild natural beauty into a special place for the flourishing of the Dudjom Tersar lineage. This lineage is the combined collection of treasures revealed by Dudjom Lingpa (1835-1904) and Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche II, Jigdral Yeshe Dorje (1904-1987), and has become one of the most widespread and practiced teachings of the Nyingma tradition. In the same way that enlightened beings of ancient times transmitted unbroken spiritual lineage from teacher to student, Rinpoche tirelessly taught and practiced with fortunate disciples who came to meet with Rinpoche from all over the world, showing by example how to use one’s life for practicing Dharma and meditation. Today, Rinpoche’s family and disciples continue to follow the Dudjom Tersar tradition at Kunzang Gatshal and to practice what Rinpoche has revealed, for the enlightenment of all beings.
